A member of the Presiding Board of the Twelfth Parliament stated that the new U.S. sanctions targeting Iran’s missile and drone industries represent an acknowledgment of the Islamic Republic’s defense capabilities.

U.S. Sanctions on Iran’s Drone Industry Are an Admission of the Country’s Defense Capabilities

In an interview with Khaneh Mellat, Abbas Papi-Zadeh Balengan, referring to the United States’ newly imposed sanctions on 32 individuals and entities linked to Iran’s missile and drone programs, said:
“Washington seeks to preserve its own military and weapons superiority over other countries by imposing restrictions and pressure; therefore, it has targeted our nation’s defense capabilities with sanctions.”

The representative of Dezful in the Islamic Consultative Assembly added:
“In reality, the sanctions imposed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury reflect unilateralism against other nations. Furthermore, through such restrictions, they attempt to convince global public opinion that they still possess superior military power.”

He emphasized that Iran’s missile and drone capabilities are indigenous, stating:
“Iran’s position among the world’s leading nations in the missile and drone sectors is the result of self-sufficiency and reliance on the local knowledge of Iran’s talented youth. Therefore, such capabilities are fundamentally immune to sanctions.”

The member of the Presiding Board of the Twelfth Parliament noted:
“The products of the Islamic Republic in this field are so diverse, efficient, and cost-effective that the United States recently attempted to copy Iran’s Shahed-136 drone. Such an action is, in fact, an acknowledgment by the Americans of Iran’s drone capabilities.”

Papi-Zadeh concluded:
“It must be recalled that decades of U.S. hegemonic policies and various sanctions have only strengthened and empowered the Islamic Republic’s defense sector, enabling it to meet its needs through indigenous scientific capacity. Therefore, these hostile policies will not achieve their intended goals.”
